Bihar Set to Unveil Ambitious Tourism Policy for Growth and Development
PATNA – Secretary of the Bihar Tourism Department, Abhay Kumar Singh, conducted a meeting with tour and hotel operators on Friday, discussing preparations for the upcoming budget. The crucial meeting took place at the Directorate auditorium in the old secretariat building in Patna on Friday.
During the meeting, the Tourism Secretary highlighted that the tourism sector in the state is expected to witness significant expansion following the introduction of the upcoming tourism policy. The government’s objective is to foster the tourism industry through various initiatives, enabling the general public to benefit from government schemes.
The discussion emphasized that grants would not only be available for building new hotels and resorts but also for existing hotels seeking upgrades to four-star status. The department is keen on providing assistance in various aspects, including the development of tourist facilities along highways, camping sites, adventure sports, eco-tourism, rural tourism, wellness and yoga centers, river cruise operations, theme parks, entertainment zones, golf courses, and the operation of tourist buses.
Participants in the meeting, which included tour and hotel operators, expressed enthusiasm for the first-time introduction of the upcoming tourism policy in the state. They commended the government’s efforts to boost tourism across various sectors, aiming to create more employment opportunities. During the meeting, participants presented valuable suggestions and demands. The Tourism Secretary assured them that these inputs would be duly considered in the implementation plans.
The meeting witnessed the presence of Tourism Director Vinay Kumar Rai, Assistant Director Ranjan Kumar, Special Duty Officer Sarthak Sinha, and tour and hotel operators such as Prakash Chandra, Saurabh Khemka, Kundan Kumar, Gaurav Shandilya, and others.
