Bihar Teachers to Get Preferred Postings Within 2 Months, Says Education Minister

Patna: The Bihar government has announced the implementation of a transparent system for teachers’ preferred postings, offering them the opportunity to choose their desired location. Education Minister Sunil Kumar, speaking in the Assembly, confirmed that the process would begin within two months, allowing teachers to select up to 10 preferred locations for their posting.
A special software has been developed to ensure transparency in the process, with priority criteria including health conditions, spouse postings, and personal preference, subject to vacancy availability. Teachers who do not receive their preferred posting will have the option to appeal before the District Magistrate, Divisional Commissioner, or departmental committees. So far, over 40 teachers suffering from serious illnesses have been accommodated as per their preference.
Additionally, the government has directed that deputation (temporary appointment) of teachers will take place only after the completion of the transfer-posting process. This provision will apply only to schools without any teachers, with district education officers empowered to allocate teachers using the new software.
