Madhubani: The Bihar Education Department has released a fresh list of teacher transfers in Madhubani district under the state’s distance-based policy, aiming to streamline postings with teachers’ places of origin. The list, published on Friday, marks the latest phase in a broader ongoing reshuffle.
A total of 1,136 teachers – 478 women and 658 men had submitted online applications for transfers. Of these, 876 were successfully reassigned, according to officials. The transfers span all levels of schooling, from primary to higher secondary, with educators moved based on the proximity of their schools to their initial appointments. Teachers’ stated preferences were considered, though not always honoured in full.
Subject-specific numbers reveal significant movement in science (139), mathematics (97), commerce and economics (58), as well as languages and social sciences (67). English saw 29 transfers.
This latest update adds to the 4,700 transfers already processed in earlier phases. Department sources indicated that the process remains active, and more names are expected in upcoming rounds based on vacancy, subject requirements and priority.
