Bihar to Launch Fresh Vegetable Outlets on the Lines of Sudha Stores
Patna: The people of Bihar will soon have access to fresh vegetables through dedicated outlets modeled after the Sudha dairy retail chain. The Cooperative Department has directed the establishment of these vegetable outlets in Patna and other district headquarters, ensuring a reliable supply of fresh produce.
Fabricated shops will be set up in districts where land is available, and these will be handed over to vegetable vendors. Along with the retail spaces, shopkeepers will receive identity cards and retail codes for streamlined operations.
Government initiative to ensure fresh produce
The initiative will be managed by Vegfed, Bihar’s cooperative body for vegetable distribution. Minister Dr. Prem Kumar held a review meeting with Vegfed officials on Feb 1 and instructed them to implement the plan efficiently.
To prevent spoilage, the outlets will be equipped with deep freezers, and in select locations, Sudha dairy products will also be available. Officials have been asked to identify suitable market areas where these outlets can be set up for joint vegetable sales.
