Patna: The historic site of Maner Sharif, a prominent Sufi cultural hub in Bihar, is undergoing a significant facelift as part of the Tourism Department’s beautification efforts. Known for its spiritual legacy and the mausoleum of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Makhdoom Yahya Maneri, the area is being enhanced to attract more visitors and honour its cultural heritage.
The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation is constructing three grand thematic gates at the entrance to the mausoleum, with a sanctioned budget of Rs 99.98 lakh. According to the department, the construction of two of these gates is now complete, while the third is around 70% finished. The entrance gates have been designed by architect firm Kapoors and Associates, incorporating aesthetic and cultural elements aligned with the site’s historical importance.
Maner Sharif has long been recognised as a spiritual centre, with Sufi saints from across the country gathering here since the 11th century to promote and discuss the teachings of Sufism. The tomb of Makhdoom Yahya Maneri, who passed away in 1291 AD, continues to draw devotees and tourists alike.
The beautification project is in its final phase, which includes completing all remaining enhancements around the mausoleum. Upon completion, the newly constructed grand gates are expected to serve as a key attraction for visitors and a symbolic tribute to Maner Sharif’s enduring spiritual and cultural significance.
