Bihar weather set for change as rain and thunder predicted in 6 Districts
Patna: The weather in Bihar is set to change, with the Meteorological Department in Patna forecasting rain, lightning, and thunder in six districts over the next 48 hours. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas.
The affected districts include Bhabua, Rohtas, Buxar, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, and Arwal. Following the rain, temperatures in these regions are expected to drop, leading to a noticeable increase in cold conditions. The shift in weather is attributed to a western disturbance and cyclonic circulation.
In addition, cloudy skies are predicted in Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jehanabad, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Munger, and Khagaria. Light and sporadic rainfall may occur in several areas, accompanied by cooler daytime temperatures. However, the night-time temperature is expected to rise slightly.
According to the Meteorological Department, the western disturbance is expected to impact north-west India on 28–29 December. A cyclonic circulation has also developed 1.5km above East Bangladesh, North Punjab, and adjoining regions.
This combination of factors is expected to trigger a mix of eastern and western winds in Bihar’s lower atmosphere, leading to light to moderate rainfall and lightning, particularly in southern parts of the state.
Farmers have been advised to take precautions. In a letter issued by the department, they were urged to store harvested and open crops in safe, dry locations to protect them from water and moisture damage.
