Patna: The weather in Bihar continues to fluctuate, with rainfall recorded in several areas on Thursday. The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain today and issued an orange alert for hailstorms in some districts. Meanwhile, no significant change in temperature is expected over the next five days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and hailstorm at one or two places in Bhabua, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Jamui, and Banka. Strong winds and sporadic showers are also likely in Patna and the southern, north-central, and north-eastern parts of the state.

On Thursday, cloudy skies and light drizzles were reported across Nawada and its surrounding areas, including Hisua, Warisliganj, Roh, Nardiganj, and Akbarpur. The sudden cold winds and intermittent rain caused mild winter-like conditions.

The unseasonal rain and strong winds have caused concern among farmers, especially those harvesting wheat, oilseeds, and pulses. Mango buds and small fruits in orchards are also at risk. Farmers fear that heavy rainfall at this stage could destroy their crops.

In Mesraur, farmers witnessed fluctuating weather throughout the day, with sunshine and sudden overcast conditions. Birendra Yadav of Pasadhi village, Belan Yadav of Mesraur, and Rajendra Yadav of Pathra expressed concerns over potential crop loss.

“The wheat is ripening, and pulses are being harvested. If heavy rain continues, our crops will be ruined,” said Rajendra Yadav.

Weather Alerts on Mobile Phones

To help farmers prepare, the Meteorological Department has been sending weather alerts to mobile phones. Farmers are advised to take precautions and secure their harvested crops to minimize damage.

The situation remains critical, and further weather developments will be closely monitored.
