rain thunderstorm

Patna: The weather in Bihar took a sudden turn on Thursday morning, with light rain recorded in Patna and Ara, bringing relief from rising temperatures. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain and lightning in seven districts—Rohtas, Kaimur, Banka, Gaya, Nawada, Jamui, and Aurangabad.

Weather Forecast

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the next 48 hours is expected to range between 32 to 38 degrees Celsius. While many districts will experience moderate to strong westerly winds, places like Sheikhpura, Khagaria, Banka, Munger, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai are likely to feel higher temperatures. A mild coolness is expected in the mornings and evenings due to these winds.

The Meteorological Center in Patna has attributed the change in weather to a Western Disturbance, which will bring rainfall across different parts of the state for the next two days. This is expected to reduce temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Rain Alert for March 21-22

A yellow alert has been issued for rain on March 21 and 22 in 26 districts of Bihar, covering about 70% of the state. The department has also warned of winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.

Banka Records Highest Temperature

Banka was the hottest district in Bihar over the past 24 hours, with a maximum temperature of 33.5°C and a minimum of 13.4°C.

  • Patna recorded a maximum of 32.8°C and a minimum of 18°C.
  • Sitamarhi had the lowest temperature, with a maximum of 31.1°C and a minimum of 13.0°C.

The Meteorological Department has advised farmers to keep harvested crops in safe storage to prevent damage from rain and moisture. There is also a risk of hailstorms affecting Rabi crops, including wheat, mustard, and pulses. Agricultural experts have warned that unexpected rain could impact yields in many parts of the state.
