Bihar: Weather Woes Disrupt Darbhanga Airport Operations; Flights Delayed and Canceled

DARBHANGA – Flight services at Darbhanga Airport encountered significant disruptions on Sunday, grappling with adverse weather conditions. Travel plans for passengers were thrown into disarray as one flight each from Delhi and Bengaluru to Darbhanga faced cancellations. Additionally, the second flight from Delhi to Darbhanga experienced a delay, landing one hour and 20 minutes behind schedule, only to be further hampered by low visibility, preventing its return to Delhi.

Of the three flights scheduled to arrive, two managed to depart, leaving passengers relying on flights to Delhi and Bengaluru disappointed. The flight from Kolkata to Darbhanga, scheduled to land at 12:05, reached at 12:42, marking a delay of 37 minutes.

Similarly, the flight from Hyderabad to Darbhanga, slated for a 2 o’clock arrival, touched down at 2:51, trailing 51 minutes behind schedule. The flight from Delhi to Darbhanga, scheduled for a 3:55 arrival, eventually landed at 5:15, delayed by one hour and 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, fog-induced delays persisted at Patna Airport, where the first flight from Lucknow landed at 12:30 on Sunday. Simultaneously, four Indigo flights faced cancellations, adding to the air travel woes. Information regarding more than half a dozen planes scheduled for takeoff from their destinations remained unavailable till late evening.

Passengers expressed concern and frustration due to the lack of information about incoming flights. The canceled flights on Sunday included IndiGo’s 6E 2769 Delhi-Patna, 6E 6451 Bengaluru-Patna, 6E 2214 Delhi-Patna, and 6E 2482 Delhi-Patna.

In addition to the cancellations, delays affected several other flights late in the evening. Indigo’s 6E 6719 Hyderabad-Patna, 6E 2373 Delhi-Patna, 6E 7944 Deoghar-Patna, Spice Jet’s SG 322 Hyderabad-Patna, Air India’s AI 407 Delhi-Patna, and Indigo’s 6E 2425 Delhi-Patna all faced delays, with no updated information on their departure status from their respective destinations.
