Ajit Kumar Puri, a resident of Babhaniya village within the Garkha police station area, is currently under police interrogation.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Ashish, the case began on September 6, 2024, when Golu alias Krishna Kumar (15), a resident of Bhuwalpur village in the Madhaura police station area, sought medical help for a stone-related issue. Kumar’s family brought him to Puri, who was operating out of Ganpati Seva Sadan in Motirajpur market, Garkha police station area.

During the surgery performed by Puri, Kumar’s condition worsened significantly, prompting the family to rush him to Patna for further treatment. However, Kumar succumbed to his condition en route. Puri, who had previously worked as a compounder at a doctor’s clinic in Chhapra for four years, had gained some medical experience. He later established his own private clinic in Dharmabagi Motiraj Pur. Initially, he relied on external doctors for surgeries but decided to perform operations himself on September 6, leading to the death of Golu Kumar.
