Bihari Students Attacked in Punjab: Bihar Govt Seeks Action

Bihari students attacked in Punjab

Patna: Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena on Friday reached out to the Punjab government, seeking security for students from Bihar following reports of an alleged attack on them at Guru Kashi University in Bathinda.
Meena spoke to Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, who assured him that the situation was under control and that officials were closely monitoring the developments.

The incident reportedly took place after a dispute arose over funds collected for cultural programs organized on March 17, 18, and 19 to promote the diverse traditions of different states. Bihar students had contributed to showcase their culture, but an argument over fund allocation escalated into a scuffle between two groups. Several students sustained injuries and later sought assistance from the Bihar government, prompting Meena’s intervention.

Reacting strongly to the incident, Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal condemned the alleged attack on Bihari students and demanded immediate action against the perpetrators.

“The BJP will not tolerate violence in educational institutions, whether the victims are from Bihar or any other state. Reports suggest that Bihari students were specifically targeted and even attacked with swords, which is completely unacceptable,” said Jaiswal.

He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government, urging them to keep politics out of educational institutions and take strict action against those responsible for the violence.

Jaiswal further emphasized that thousands of students from Bihar pursue education in Punjab, and it is the Punjab government’s responsibility to ensure their safety. “The police must identify the culprits, arrest them immediately, and take legal action to prevent such incidents in the future,” he added.
