Bihar’s Chhath Festival to Enjoy Clear Weather, Temperatures Slightly Above Normal
Patna: This year, the Chhath festival is expected to enjoy clear weather during the morning prayers, with no significant chill anticipated. Currently, the absence of western disturbances in Bihar, including its capital, is contributing to a mild climate. While temperatures in November are expected to remain slightly above normal, a gradual drop in temperatures is likely toward the end of the month.
According to the Meteorological Center in Patna, temperatures this month could be two to three degrees higher than average, with a slight increase in cold expected as November progresses. For the next 24 hours, dry weather is forecasted for most parts of the state, including Patna, although light rain may occur in one or two areas of northwestern West and East Champaran.
There are no significant changes in temperature anticipated over the next five days, aside from morning fog. On Sunday (3rd November), westerly winds contributed to a slight drop in maximum temperatures across 20 districts, including Patna, where the temperature fell by 1.3°C to 29.4°C. Sitamarhi recorded the highest temperature at 34.5°C. Mild fog was noted in Patna and nearby areas in the morning, but the day remained sunny and pleasant.
The weather is exhibiting its typical autumn characteristics, with bright sunshine and warmth persisting during the day, while the mornings are now marked by fog and a slight chill. Visibility was reduced in various areas, particularly on main roads, until around 7:30 AM on Sunday. Although the heat lingers throughout the day, the onset of colder temperatures is expected to be delayed.
As the fog blankets the mornings and clouds linger throughout the day, with occasional rain forecasts, concerns have risen among residents regarding preparations for Chhath, which require washing and drying grains and preparing stoves. However, the Meteorological Department reassures that while the sky may remain overcast, no rain is expected during the festival, and a drop in temperatures is still anticipated.
