Bihar’s Shift from ‘BIMARU’ to ‘BEHATREEN’ Under Spotlight at Patna Seminar on June 10

A national seminar in Patna on June 10 will explore Bihar’s strategic role in Eastern India’s growth, bringing together top policymakers, scholars and business leaders.

Patna: A one-day national seminar titled “Bihar Leads the Rising East” is set to take place in Patna on June 10, aiming to spotlight Bihar’s evolving role in the development of Eastern India. The event is being organised by Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) in collaboration with the Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP), SGT University, and the Public Policy Research Centre (PPRC).

With Bihar at a critical juncture in its socio-economic journey, the seminar seeks to move public discourse away from personality-driven politics towards substantive discussions on governance, service delivery, and policy innovation. Organisers describe the event as a platform for scholars, policymakers, industry leaders and intellectuals to share insights, identify challenges, and suggest strategies for sustainable and inclusive development in the state.

“This seminar will offer a powerful space for reflection and dialogue on Bihar’s strategic place in the eastern region’s developmental arc,” said Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, former Rajya Sabha MP and Vice Chairman of RMP. “Over the last two decades, the NDA government has worked to shift Bihar’s image from a ‘BIMARU’ state to a ‘BEHATREEN’ one—driven by growth and good governance.”

The seminar is expected to include thematic sessions on economic development, rural transformation, youth empowerment, and innovation in governance. It aims to create synergy between public policy frameworks and grassroots realities, while encouraging a closer collaboration between academia and policymaking.

The inaugural session will feature Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. A distinguished group of speakers will join the dialogue, including Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, JD(U) national president Sanjay Jha, BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde, and NITI Aayog official Anand Shekhar.

Also among the featured speakers are YourStory founder and CEO Shraddha Sharma, and Dr Guru Prakash, assistant professor of law at Patna University.

The seminar will conclude with a valedictory session graced by the Bihar governor, Arif Mohammad Khan, as chief guest.

The event is being coordinated by Dr Sahasrabuddhe, RMP, and Rambahadur Rai, Chancellor of SGT University, along with CIMP’s Chief Administrative Officer Kumod Kumar and other senior officials.
