Bihar’s ‘Sudha’ Brand Expands Globally as Ghee and Gulab Jamun Reach US and Canada

Patna : Bihar’s renowned ‘Sudha’ brand is set to make its mark on the international market, with its dairy and traditional food products now reaching the United States and Canada. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday flagged off the first export consignment from the Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation (Comfed), marking a significant milestone for the state’s dairy industry.

The initial shipment, valued at Rs48 lakh, includes 5,700 kg of Sudha ghee, 5,000 kg of gulab jamun, and 500 kg of makhana. The products have been dispatched from Gujarat’s Mundra Port and Kolkata Port. Sudha ghee will be available in the US in 1 kg, 5 kg, and 10 kg packs, while Sudha gulab jamun will be sold in Canada in 1 kg packs.

A Moment of Pride for Bihar’s Farmers
Speaking at the event, Nitish Kumar described the development as a proud moment for Bihar’s farmers and dairy producers. He congratulated Comfed, stating that this was only the beginning and that more products would be exported in the future.

Comfed’s managing director, Raj Kumar, attributed the success to improvements in product quality and extended shelf life. Sudha ghee can now remain fresh for up to 1.5 years, while gulab jamun has a shelf life of one year. He emphasised that the initiative would not only boost the incomes of Bihar’s farmers and dairy workers but also enhance the state’s reputation in global markets.
