Bihar’s Thawe Junction Station Gets A Modern Makeover Under Amrit Station Yojana

Thawe Junction in Gopalganj has been transformed into a modern railway station with upgraded passenger amenities and a culturally inspired facelift under the Amrit Station Yojana.

Gopalganj/Patna: The Indian Railways has unveiled a major facelift of Thawe Junction in Gopalganj district, transforming it into a modern transport hub under the central government’s ‘Amrit Station Yojana’. Located just 6 km south-west of the district headquarters, Thawe is also home to a revered temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, drawing devotees year-round, especially during Navratri.

As a key node in the North Eastern Railway zone where lines from Siwan, Chhapra Kachhari, and Kaptanganj intersect, Thawe Junction is now connected to major cities like Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Patna, and Tatanagar through direct rail services.Bihar’s Thawe Junction Station Gets A Modern Makeover Under Amrit Station Yojana

In a project worth Rs 11.75 crore, the station has been modernised to enhance passenger convenience and aesthetics. Improvements span across a 400 sq metre station building and a 1,030 sq metre circulating area, with the facade receiving a fresh visual upgrade inspired by local art and culture. Wall paintings and facade lighting have lent the station a distinctive, culturally rooted charm.

New amenities include 28 bay passenger sheds across all three platforms, steel and concrete benches, improved platform surfaces—Kota stone paving platform one—and an upgraded approach road with a formal entry gate and pathway.

For travellers, comfort has been prioritised: the 342 sq metre waiting room has been renovated with modern furniture and artwork, while facilities such as water coolers, fans, food stalls, international-standard signage, and a Sahayog (assistance) counter have been introduced. Dedicated parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers is now available.

Officials note that the redevelopment aligns with the vision of a ‘Developed India’, offering not just infrastructure but a more comfortable and pleasant passenger experience.
