Patna: A special blood donation camp will be organised at IAS Bhawan in Patna on Friday, June 14, to mark World Blood Donor Day. The initiative is a collaborative effort of the IAS, IPS, and IFS Associations, with active support from their respective Wives Associations.
The camp, which begins at 9 am, will be formally inaugurated at 9:15 am by Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Prabhat Kumar Gupta. Former Chief Secretary of Bihar and Jharkhand, retired IAS officer V.S. Dubey, will be present as chief guest.
Organised annually since 2021, the drive aims not just to encourage blood donation but also to foster a wider sense of social responsibility and public service. This year, the Maa Blood Center will provide technical support for the collection and storage of donated blood.
Chief Secretary Meena urged all civil service officers and their families to actively participate in the event. “This is not only a humanitarian gesture, but also an expression of solidarity with those in need,” he said. DGP Vinay Kumar described blood donation as a “Mahadaan” (supreme donation), calling it the greatest form of service to humanity. He praised the enthusiastic involvement of the officers’ spouses in making the initiative a success.
Additional Chief Secretary Dipak Kumar Singh, who played a key role in launching the initiative during the Covid-19 pandemic, noted that it began as a crisis response but has since evolved into a meaningful annual campaign. “What started during a shortage has now grown into a larger social movement,” he said, encouraging public and official participation.
Organisers from the IAS, IPS, and IFS associations said the camp offers not just an opportunity to give blood but to save lives. “Every unit donated could mean a second chance for someone. Let us come together in this noble cause,” they said in a joint appeal.
