BJP Criticizes RJD, Asserts "Jungle Raj" Will Not Return to Bihar

Patna: The BJP has launched an attack on the RJD following the entry of former MP Shahabuddin’s wife Hina Shahab and his son Osama into the party. The BJP claims this move is an attempt by RJD leader Lalu Yadav to gain electoral support from the family of Shahabuddin, a controversial figure associated with crime in Bihar’s Siwan district. BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar stated on social media that such associations would not help bring back “Jungle Raj” to Bihar, emphasizing that the state’s focus is now on development.

According to Kumar, Bihar has moved past a history of crime and instability. He highlighted recent developments, including the arrival of Vande Bharat trains, the establishment of a dry port in Bihta, and ongoing efforts to attract IT investments. Kumar asserted that initiatives by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are leading Bihar toward economic progress and modernization.

Kumar added that Bihar’s advancements, such as improved access to electricity and water, negate the need for the symbolism of RJD’s lantern. He expressed confidence that youth across Bihar would support the BJP’s vision, projecting a strong NDA victory in the upcoming 2025 elections.

The inclusion of Hina Shahab and her son Osama is viewed by political analysts as RJD’s attempt to consolidate its Muslim vote bank ahead of elections. In recent elections, minority voters showed signs of discontent with RJD’s strategy. The BJP, along with parties like Jansuraj and AIMIM, has been working to influence these voters, while RJD aims to counter this by engaging figures close to Shahabuddin’s legacy.
