BJP Hosts Discussion on 'One Nation - One Election' in Patna to Address Electoral Continuity Disruption by Congress

Patna: A discussion on the theme of ‘One Nation – One Election’ was organized by the Judicial and Election Commission Contact Department at the Bihar BJP office. The event highlighted the importance of simultaneous elections for the nation’s welfare, with BJP State President and Bihar’s Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dr Dilip Jaiswal attributing the disruption of electoral continuity to Congress’ arrogance.

Dr Jaiswal stated that from 1951 to 1967, elections across the country were conducted simultaneously. He accused Congress of disrupting this process for political gain, alleging that their desire to retain power weakened democracy and led to the imposition of Presidential Rule multiple times. He emphasized that frequent elections impose a significant economic and administrative burden while also halting development work due to the Model Code of Conduct.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha supported the initiative, saying that ‘One Nation – One Election’ would result in substantial savings for the exchequer and provide new direction for national progress. He called for collective efforts to raise awareness about the policy’s benefits.

Minister Mangal Pandey pointed out that frequent elections delay infrastructure and development projects, a problem that could be resolved through simultaneous elections. Supreme Court Additional Solicitor General S.D. Sanjay highlighted the policy’s positive impact and stressed the need for consensus on its implementation.

The discussion was chaired by Rakesh Thakur and attended by prominent figures, including Minister Nitin Nabin, Program Coordinator Deepak Prakash, Media Co-Incharge Amit Prakash Bablu, Shambhu Prasad, and Priyanka Rajlakshmi.
