BPSC 70th PT Row: Candidates to Protest in Patna Again Today, Demand Re-Exam
Patna: Candidates demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th Preliminary Test (PT) are set to stage another protest in Patna today. Thousands are expected to join the demonstration, citing allegations of exam rigging and incorrect answers being marked as right in the official answer key.
Rahmanshu Sir, a well-known mentor for competitive exam aspirants, said students have been forced to take to the streets as their concerns remain unaddressed. “Our demands have been ignored so far. On Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, students have again decided to protest in Patna,” he said. Rahmanshu has been actively participating in the demonstrations at Gardanibagh since December 18, 2024.
Despite the ongoing agitation, the BPSC released the PT results on January 23, with 21,581 candidates clearing the exam. However, the controversy is far from over, as the Patna High Court is set to hear a petition on the matter on January 31. The court had earlier directed BPSC to submit an affidavit by January 30.
A petition demanding a re-exam has been filed in the Patna High Court by Jan Suraj, the political outfit led by Prashant Kishor. During a hearing on January 16, the court refused to put a stay on the exam.
The results were declared amid a prolonged protest by candidates, who have been staging a sit-in at Gardanibagh for the last 49 days, insisting on a fresh examination.
