BPSC Candidates Demand Cancellation of Entire Exam After Bapu Centre Chaos

Patna: Protests are intensifying as candidates demand the cancellation of the entire 70th BPSC Preliminary Test (PT) examination. Around 500 aspirants gathered at the Gardnibagh protest site, holding posters and raising slogans against the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). They insist that exams across all 912 centers should be annulled and a re-exam conducted. Student leader Dilip Kumar supported the demand, calling for the release of CCTV footage from all exam centers.

The protests were sparked by events at the Bapu Centre in Patna during the December 13 exam, where delays in distributing question papers led to chaos. Alleging a paper leak, some candidates disrupted the examination process. In response, Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh intervened, slapping a protesting student, further fueling the outrage. BPSC later canceled the Bapu Centre’s exam on December 16 but maintained that exams at the remaining 911 centers were conducted without issues.

BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai clarified that the paper was not leaked but delayed. He accused anti-social elements of orchestrating the disturbance, stating they snatched question papers, spread rumors, and prevented others from completing their exams. Only 5,500 OMR sheets were submitted from the center. The commission has identified 25-30 individuals involved in the disruptions and is working with Patna police for further investigation.

Despite these clarifications, #BPSCReExamForAll trended on social media, with many candidates expressing their frustration and supporting a re-exam. Some even issued emotional appeals, blaming BPSC and the state government for their plight. One candidate, Sonu, posted a video threatening to end his life if the exam was not canceled, holding BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar responsible.

The 70th PT exam has faced issues from the start, including multiple changes in the number of posts and exam dates. Originally planned for September 30, the exam was rescheduled multiple times before being held on December 13. With increasing pressure from candidates and ongoing protests, the demand for a re-exam is gaining momentum across Bihar.
