BPSC Candidates March Toward CM Residence Led by Prashant Kishore, Heavy Police Deployed
Patna: The agitation of BPSC candidates intensified as thousands of protesters, led by Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishore, marched from Gandhi Maidan toward the Chief Minister’s residence. The candidates are demanding the cancellation and re-conduct of the 70th preliminary examination, alleging irregularities. The march began after a heated student parliament under the Gandhi statue in Gandhi Maidan.
Protest Escalates with PK’s Leadership
Addressing the students at Gandhi Maidan, Prashant Kishore stated that he would fully support their decision on the mode of protest. “If you want to march, we will march today itself. If you prefer to sit on a dharna, we are ready for that too,” he said, leaving the decision to the candidates. Shortly after, the group decided to march toward the CM’s residence, prompting immediate action from the administration.
Police Barricades at JP Golambar
The march reached JP Golambar, where a large contingent of police had already been deployed to prevent the protesters from advancing further. Barricades and Vajra vehicles were positioned strategically to stop the procession. The situation remained tense as candidates voiced their demands for a re-examination, while Prashant Kishore stood at the forefront, supporting their cause.
Growing Agitation and Government Response
This development follows a series of events earlier in the day, including the denial of permission for the protest by the district administration and warnings of legal action. Despite these obstacles, the candidates remained resolute in their demands. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, currently in Delhi, earlier stated that discussions on the matter would take place after 4 p.m., but the candidates’ dissatisfaction continues to grow.
As the standoff at JP Golambar unfolds, all eyes are on how the administration and the government will address the escalating crisis. The students’ demands and their determination have brought the issue of transparency in Bihar’s examination system into sharp focus.
