Britannia, JK Cement Among 62 Companies to Set Up Units in Bihar as State Promotes Industry Growth

Patna: In a major push for industrial development in Bihar, a high-level meeting chaired by the Development Commissioner on Tuesday approved several new projects. The meeting focused on promoting industry in the state, gave the green light for setting up new units for major companies like Britannia, Patel Agri, and JK Cement.

The State Investment Promotion Board approved the establishment of 62 industrial units, granting in-principle approval for investments amounting to Rs 2,347.47 crore. In addition, 45 units were provided with financial approval, totaling Rs 868.69 crore. These approvals are seen as a significant step in boosting Bihar’s industrial landscape.

So far, in the financial year 2024-25, a total of 243 industrial units have received Stage 1 approval in Bihar, with investments worth Rs 4,646.57 crore. Moreover, 146 units have secured financial approvals amounting to Rs 1,723 crore. These figures reflect the state’s growing appeal for industrial investment.

The meeting also approved the establishment of units by prominent companies such as JK Cement, Britannia, Patel Agri, SJPB Hathua Mill, and Pinaksh Steel. These developments are expected to significantly enhance the state’s industrial output and create new job opportunities.

Several high-ranking officials were present at the meeting, including Industry Secretary Bandana Preyasi, Tourism Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, Finance Secretary Ashima Jain, Industry Director Alok Ranjan Ghosh, and State Pollution Control Board Secretary Neeraj Narayan. Representatives from the Bihar Industries Association and other key stakeholders also participated.
