Patna: In a bid to make Patna’s women-only Pink Bus service more accessible, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) will soon launch dedicated monthly pass camps across major women’s colleges in the city. Institutions such as Patna Women’s College and JD Women’s College have already been identified for the rollout.

The initiative aims to streamline the pass issuance process for the eight pink buses currently operating in Patna, which serve as a safer commuting option for women students and working professionals.

Earlier this week, the BSRTC held a one-day awareness camp near Patna Zoo, where over 60 people, including girl students, working women, and parents, inquired about the monthly pass system. Manoj Kumar, an employee at the Income Tax Office, attended the camp to learn how to obtain a pass for his daughter’s coaching commute. Several college and coaching students, along with women traffic police personnel, also expressed strong interest.

Passes can be obtained both online and offline. For digital applications, users can access the Chalo mobile app. Working women are required to upload their Aadhaar card and a photograph, while students must additionally provide their college ID. Online passes are typically issued within 24 hours.

Offline passes will be issued immediately at the camp site for an additional Rs 20 processing fee. The cost of a monthly pass is Rs 550 for working women and Rs 450 for students.

Officials said the upcoming college-based camps are designed to expand access and convenience for women commuters, particularly students who rely on public transport.
