Patna: A six-storey budget hotel will be constructed in Sasaram at a cost of Rs 29.82 crore to promote tourism and generate local employment, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, announced on Thursday.
The project aims to enhance tourism in the region, which is home to historical and natural attractions such as Rohtasgarh Fort and the Tarachandi Temple, located about 5 km south of Sasaram on the Kaimur hills. The temple, one of India’s 52 Shakti Peeths, holds significant religious and cultural importance.
Modern Facilities to Replace Sher Shah Suri Hotel
The deputy CM stated that the new hotel will replace Hotel Sher Shah Suri Vihar, a property of historical importance that will be demolished to make way for the upgraded structure. The proposed G+6 building will include:
- 27 standard rooms, 9 deluxe rooms, and 3 suite rooms
- Banquet hall, reception, and bank office
- Restaurant, kitchen, coffee shop, and boardroom
- Centralized air-conditioning and lift facilities
- Parking, landscaped campus, and modern lighting
- Firefighting systems and CCTV surveillance
The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) will oversee the implementation of the project, which received technical approval in November last year. Choudhary emphasized the government’s focus on constructing budget-friendly hotels that provide high-quality facilities at economical rates.
Boost for Local Tourism
Apart from Rohtasgarh Fort and Tarachandi Temple, the deputy CM highlighted other tourist attractions in Sasaram, including Manjhar Kund, Kashish Waterfall, Karamchat Dam, Tutla Bhawani Temple, and Narayani Devi Temple. The new hotel is expected to cater to visitors exploring these sites, offering an affordable yet well-equipped accommodation option.
