Buxar: Buxar’s skyline is set to change dramatically in 2025, with several key infrastructure projects nearing completion. Among the most significant developments is the construction of the Chausa railway bridge, a project that promises to alleviate the chronic traffic congestion in the district. The bridge, being built on the Buxar-Rohtas State Highway at a cost of Rs 23 crore, has faced years of delays since its commencement in 2015. Initially slated for completion in 2024, it is now expected to be operational by February 2025.

Meanwhile, the Itadhi railway overbridge—a long-awaited project to ease traffic jams in the city—has also seen delays. Construction began two years ago with an initial deadline of December 2024. The Rs 63.18 crore project, located near the Itadhi railway Gumti, is now set to open by March 2025, offering the district its first railway overbridge.

In addition to easing road congestion, Buxar is preparing for a significant boost in its energy infrastructure. The Chausa thermal power plant, touted as the second-largest thermal power project in India, was originally scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. However, work on the Rs 12,000 crore project has stretched into the new year. Once operational, the plant will have a capacity of 1320 MW, a development that could make Bihar self-sufficient in energy production.

Other projects in the district, including the construction of a water treatment plant in Simri block to combat organic water contamination and a four-lane highway connecting Buxar to Mohania, also face looming deadlines.

While 2024 brought promises of transformative development, delays have tested the patience of Buxar’s residents. The new timelines have shifted hopes to 2025, a year that could mark a turning point in the region’s infrastructure and economic growth.
