Cancer Awareness Conclave Launched in Patna to Empower Women’s Health
Patna: Cancer, once perceived as an incurable affliction, is now showing signs of controllable outcomes, especially with timely detection. Mayor Sita Sahu emphasized the importance of raising awareness not only within families but also in society, acknowledging the toll it takes on both physical well-being and financial stability. Gulmohar Maitri Sanstha took a significant step in this direction by inaugurating the Cancer Awareness Conclave and introducing the Arogya Maitri Project.
Mayor Sita Sahu, at the launch of the Arogya Maitri Project, expressed confidence that this initiative would be a blessing for the women of Bihar. The project aims to raise awareness and motivate women for regular health checkups, a crucial step in the fight against cancer. Sahu praised the collaborative efforts of Gulmohar Maitri Sanstha and hoped that their endeavors would yield positive results.
The Arogya Maitri program commenced at the Urja Auditorium in the capital, Patna. Gulmohar Maitri Sanstha, with a 14-year history of working in the field of women’s health, has been actively conducting cancer awareness programs across various districts in Bihar. The ongoing campaign focuses on cervical and breast cancer screening, with the Navya program providing HPV vaccination to over a lakh girls.
The program inauguration saw the lighting of the lamp by dignitaries, including Patna Mayor Sita Sahu, former minister Jeevesh Kumar Mishra, Shreyasi Singh, former president of IMA Dr. Sahajanand Prasad Singh, Lieutenant General AK Choudhary, Major General M Indrabalan, and Manju Singha.
Brand ambassador Shreyasi Singh highlighted the critical role the younger generation plays in shaping a healthy and better India. She urged school children in attendance to carry the awareness campaign to every home, emphasizing the need for women to prioritize their health.
Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhary, a special guest at the event, shared her personal journey and stressed the significance of early detection. She emphasized the common tendency of women neglecting their health while caring for their families. Chaudhary, along with more than two dozen cancer survivors from Bihar, walked the ramp to uplift the spirits of women battling cancer.
Manju Singha, Secretary of the organization, reflected on the growth of Gulmohar Maitri Sanstha from a seed planted 14 years ago to a significant force in cancer awareness. Singha highlighted the collaborative efforts involving enlightened individuals, school children, public representatives, and doctors in conducting awareness campaigns.
Distinguished guests at the event included former minister Jeevesh Kumar Mishra, Deputy Mayor Rashmi Chandravanshi, Major General Indrabalan, Lieutenant General AK Chaudhary, Padmashree Vimal Jain, MLA Shreyasi Singh, Sanjay Singha, Dr. Sahajanand Prasad Singh, Dr. Satyajit Singh, and school children from Krishna Niketan.
