Car Catches Fire on Ghogha-Panjwara Highway in Banka; Three Escape Unharmed

Banka car fire

Banka: Panic broke out on the Ghogha-Panjwara State Highway in Bihar’s Dhoraiya police station area on Thursday evening after a moving car suddenly caught fire. The incident took place around 7:30 PM, between Beldiha and Ahiro villages. All three occupants of the vehicle managed to escape unharmed.

According to officials, Amit Kumar, a resident of Budhanath Chowk in Bhagalpur, was traveling to Godda with two friends when the car’s AC system abruptly stopped working. Soon after, smoke began billowing from the vehicle, followed by visible flames.

Sensing danger, the passengers quickly stopped the car and escaped through the back door just before the fire intensified. Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud bursts similar to firecrackers as the flames engulfed the vehicle. Traffic on the highway came to a standstill as passersby watched the situation unfold.

Fire Brought Under Control, No Casualties

Alerted by local residents, the fire brigade arrived promptly at the scene and managed to douse the flames. However, the car was completely gutted by the time firefighters brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported, and a major accident was narrowly averted.

Short Circuit Suspected

Preliminary investigations suggest that a technical fault in the AC system may have caused a short circuit, triggering the fire. The police have registered a case and begun further inquiry into the incident.
