Vigilance officers caught a revenue employee in Bhojpur while taking a bribe to clear land paperwork

Bhojpur: A revenue employee in Bihar’s Bhojpur district has been arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. The Vigilance Investigation Bureau raided the Piro Zone Office on Thursday and caught him red-handed. The arrested employee has been identified as Raja Kumar Das, who is from Rahika village in Madhubani district. He had been working in the Piro office for a long time.

This case is related to Vaisadhi village under Hasanbazar police station. Mahavir Upadhyay, the complainant, had applied for mutation and online update of his ancestral land documents. Out of his total land, receipt was given for some part, but for the remaining land papers, Raja Kumar Das demanded a bribe of Rs 45,000. Troubled by this, Mahavir complained to the Vigilance Bureau in Patna on 8 July.

The Bureau quickly investigated and found the complaint true. A special team was formed, and as per the plan, they raided the Piro Zone Office on Thursday. The team caught Raja Kumar Das while he was taking Rs 20,000 from Mahavir. They recovered the entire bribe amount during the raid, creating panic in the office.

After the arrest, the Vigilance team took him to Patna for questioning. Deputy Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar said strict action will be taken and no corrupt person will be spared. The Bureau is also checking if he was involved in other illegal bribes and whether other employees were part of such acts.
