CBI Arrests Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal In Sasaram For Accepting Bribe

A Kendriya Vidyalaya principal in Sasaram was arrested by the CBI while accepting a Rs 32,000 bribe, marking the third such arrest in Bihar in just 24 hours.

Sasaram/Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Mayank Kumar Srivastava, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sasaram, Bihar, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 32,000. The arrest, part of a broader anti-corruption crackdown, is the third such case in the state within 24 hours.

According to sources, the bribe was demanded from a local supplier, Prince Kumar of Mahi Enterprises, in exchange for clearing a bill of Rs 1.92 lakh. Acting on a longstanding complaint, CBI officials conducted a raid on the school premises at around 2:30 pm, during which Srivastava was caught red-handed.

The investigation team, after securing the school premises and confiscating the gatekeeper’s phone, searched the principal’s office and residence for nearly four hours. “Complaints had been coming in for quite some time. This operation was based on solid evidence,” said a senior CBI official.

The incident has caused a stir among the school’s staff and students. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, two other officials were apprehended on similar charges—an ASI in Patna and a Block Development Officer along with an accountant in Araria district—highlighting the state’s continuing struggle with bureaucratic corruption.
