CBI Raids Patna AIIMS Over Alleged Irregularities in Medical Equipment Procurement

Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at Patna AIIMS on Tuesday over alleged irregularities in the procurement of orthopedic implant equipment. A two-member CBI team from Delhi detained Prabhat Agarwal, a faculty member in the orthopedic department, and Ashish Kumar, a stenographer in the office of the Deputy Director (Administration). Both were released after several hours of questioning.

Sources indicate that corruption may have taken place in the purchase of medical equipment, and more doctors and hospital staff could be questioned in the coming days. The CBI is also searching for two junior doctors who are reportedly absconding.

Officials believe a doctor from the orthopedics department may be involved in the case. Ashish Kumar, who works under Deputy Director (Administration) Niloptal Bal, was also interrogated. While the CBI team has returned for now, further investigations are expected, and a formal case could be registered against those implicated.
