Central University of South Bihar Hosts Insightful Workshop on National Education Policy 2020
Gaya: The Vidya Bharati Institute of Higher Education (VBUSS) is spearheading efforts to cultivate an indigenous education system, aligning with the vision of a developed India by 2047. K.N. Raghunandan, Organization Secretary of VBUSS, unveiled this commitment during his address as the Chief Guest at a workshop on the National Education Policy 2020 held at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB).
Highlighting the innovative strides, Raghunandan emphasized the development of “magic box educational toys” designed for pre-primary education. These educational tools aim to foster curiosity and creativity among preschool children, reflecting the institution’s commitment to tailoring education to suit age groups and cultural and geographical nuances.
Addressing the workshop attendees, Raghunandan underscored the need for value-based education, drawing inspiration from exemplary practices within the tribal community. Examples included the adoption of orphans in Chhattisgarh and the enduring joint family system in Dharwad, both serving as models rooted in Indian traditions.
Furthermore, Raghunandan advocated for higher education institutions to align their curriculum with the principles outlined in the New Education Policy 2020. He stressed the importance of recording indigenous knowledge through research-based interviews and focusing on ‘India-centric education’ to cultivate a sense of pride in Indian youth, deeply rooted in the country’s knowledge traditions. VBUSS has already embarked on redesigning the curriculum for over 20 subjects in collaboration with various higher education institutions.
The workshop featured discussions by renowned scholars and experts, including Prof. Rabi Narayan Kar from the University of Delhi, who emphasized the significance of an interdisciplinary approach and advocated for a curriculum related to ‘Commercial Geography’ to promote local industries and contribute to creating a self-reliant India.
The event, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, brought together academics, researchers, and students to deliberate on the topic National Education Policy 2020: Ideal Curriculum and Content in Geography.’ The panel discussion outlined the model geography curriculum in light of the New Education Policy 2020, aligning with the objective of a Developed India by 2047. Pro. Kiran Kumari presented session reports, Professor Ravi Kant delivered the Presidential Address, and Dr. Tarun Kumar Tyagi, Convener of the Workshop, expressed gratitude. Deans of various schools, heads of departments, academicians, and research students also participated in the workshop.”
