Centre to Establish Kalagram in Patna and Bodhgaya to Promote Bihar’s Cultural Heritage

Patna: Patna and Bodhgaya have been selected for the establishment of Kalagram, a cultural hub aimed at preserving and promoting Bihar’s rich heritage. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Culture, marks a significant recognition of the state’s artistic and cultural legacy at both national and international levels.

Following the success of the Kalagram at Prayagraj during Kumbh Mela 2025, the central government has announced the creation of 20 new Kalagrams across the country, with Bihar securing two of these prestigious projects. The cultural centres will serve as dedicated platforms for artists, craftsmen, and performing arts professionals, fostering creativity and innovation.

The Bihar government has been tasked with identifying 5 to 10 acres of land in both Patna and Bodhgaya, which will be handed over to the Centre for the project’s development. The initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities for local artisans while boosting Bihar’s cultural tourism sector.
