Chandan Mishra Murder: Tausif, Woman Among Shooters Arrested in Kolkata; Police Probe WhatsApp Chats

Kolkata/Patna: In a significant breakthrough in the high-profile murder case of gangster Chandan Mishra at Paras Hospital in Patna, the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) successfully apprehended the most wanted accused, Tausif alias Badshah, from Anandpur in Kolkata, West Bengal, on Saturday night. Alongside Tausif, four other individuals – Sachin Singh, Harish Singh, Yunus Khan, and a woman – have also been arrested. While one of the accused sustained injuries during the arrest, Bihar Police officials are yet to officially confirm the arrests.
Earlier reports had indicated the arrest of five individuals connected to the murder from Kolkata, though their identities were not disclosed at the time.
Raids Lead to Guest House Arrests and Vehicle Seizure
The Bihar STF team had been conducting extensive raids across West Bengal since last Friday, following leads in the Chandan Mishra murder case. Sources indicate that the arrests were made from a guest house in Anandpur. Police have also seized a white car from the accused.
During the initial raid, gang leader Tausif alias Badshah reportedly attempted to evade capture in a white car, but the police team, which had been tracking him, pursued him. Those who had been assisting Tausif and his associates in hiding were apprehended from a residential complex in ‘New Town’ near Kolkata.
Jail-Hatched Conspiracy and Inside Betrayal
Investigations reveal that the conspiracy to kill Chandan Mishra was allegedly hatched by gangster Sheru Singh, who is currently lodged in Purulia jail in West Bengal. Sheru reportedly first befriended one of Chandan’s close associates, using this insider to monitor Chandan’s every move. This inner circle, including Chandan’s close confidante and Tausif, then conspired to eliminate him. The plan was put on hold while Chandan was in jail, awaiting his release.
Sheru, from his prison cell, meticulously kept tabs on Chandan, ensuring that Chandan remained unaware of the betrayal by his close associate. When Chandan required medical treatment, he discussed it with this trusted individual, who then relayed the information to Sheru. It was at this point that Sheru, from jail, allegedly advised Chandan to seek treatment at a location where a shooter could easily access him. Tausif then suggested Paras Hospital on Nehru Path, an area where he resided, as the ideal spot. Once Chandan’s admission to the hospital was confirmed, the plot was set in motion.
Further details suggest Sheru’s connections extend to a major gold robbery gang, with whom he reportedly forged an alliance in Beur jail, assisting them through his henchmen on multiple occasions.
CCTV and Digital Evidence Crucial to Arrests
CCTV footage played a pivotal role in Tausif’s apprehension. Footage showed Tausif fleeing in a white car, passing through highways. The STF team meticulously tracked his movements by analyzing cameras installed along these routes, ultimately leading to his successful capture. Prior to this, Tausif was among the main accused for whom an arrest warrant had been issued.
The investigation is also heavily relying on the analysis of phone calls, WhatsApp, and Messenger chats of the five arrested individuals. Sources indicate that it was Sheru who had advised the criminals to flee Bihar immediately after committing the murder.
