Chaos Erupts at Patna Airport as SpiceJet Bengaluru Flight Abruptly Canceled

Patna: Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna witnessed scenes of chaos on Sunday when a flight of SpiceJet en route to Bengaluru was cancelled, leaving 135 passengers in the lurch. Passengers, aggrieved by the sudden cancellation, claim they received no prior notification or information regarding the disruption to their travel plans.

Expressing their frustration, passengers waiting at the airport reported a lack of clear communication from the airline staff. They recounted that initially, the flight (SG-532) was displayed as delayed by one hour, only to be subsequently canceled, leaving them perplexed and agitated.

SpiceJet officials, on the other hand, cited a technical fault with the inbound flight from Bengaluru to Patna as the reason for the disruption. They explained that due to this technical issue, it was not feasible to accommodate the affected passengers on an alternative flight during the evening. However, the passengers present at the airport were unwilling to accept this explanation, leading to an escalation of the situation.

In response to the escalating commotion, police officers from Airport police station promptly arrived at the airport, sources claimed. Tensions ran high, with several passengers engaging in confrontations with both SpiceJet personnel and the responding police officers.

In an effort to defuse the situation and ensure the well-being of the affected travelers, the police officers tactfully intervened, successfully convincing the passengers to cooperate. The passengers were subsequently arranged accommodations at a private Hotel. SpiceJet facilitated their transportation to the hotel via a dedicated bus service.

The sources further claimed that the airline has now made arrangements for the stranded passengers to depart for Bengaluru on the 11 a.m. flight today (Monday), ensuring that their travel plans are not further disrupted.
