Nalanda/Gayaji: Bihar is set for another politically charged Sunday on 29 June, as two key National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders – Chirag Paswan and Upendra Kushwaha – prepare to stage simultaneous rallies in different parts of the state.
Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan will address supporters at a Bahujan Bhim Sankalp Sammelan in Rajgir, Nalanda district. On the same day, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president Upendra Kushwaha is scheduled to lead a Maha Rally for Constitutional Rights and Delimitation Reform in Gayaji’s Gandhi Maidan, targeting the wider Magadh region. These parallel events follow a similar pattern from 8 June, when Paswan held a rally in Ara while Kushwaha spoke in Muzaffarpur. The spate of rallies reflects growing competition among NDA constituents as they jostle for relevance and influence within the alliance, particularly in the absence of a finalised seat-sharing agreement with the BJP and JDU.
The Rajgir event was announced on Wednesday by Jamui MP Arun Bharti, Chirag’s brother-in-law, through a social media post. He declared the rally as a decisive moment for Bahujan empowerment, stating: “Bahujan will no longer become anyone’s B team. This time, there will be no deception, no surrender.
“Meanwhile, RLM General Secretary Rampukar Sinha said over 25,000 workers are expected to attend Kushwaha’s Gayaji rally. “Party workers from across the Magadh region are mobilising,” Sinha added. Kushwaha has previously held mass gatherings in Shahabad and North Bihar as part of his campaign to position RLM as a decisive voice in the NDA coalition. The dual rallies underscore a broader unease within the NDA as leaders attempt to assert their political weight ahead of the alliance’s internal negotiations. Paswan has even suggested stepping away from national politics to focus on a more direct role in Bihar’s legislative future.
