Patna: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Wednesday appealed for the Bihar Governor to take suo motu cognizance of the health and mental condition of the Chief Minister (CM), Nitish Kumar. The call for the Governor’s intervention stemmed from the controversial remarks made by CM Nitish on women’s role in family planning, in both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.

Addressing a press conference at Patna, Chirag said these remarks were obscene, indecent, and embarrassing, leading to a sense of shame among the people of Bihar, both within the country and abroad. Chirag emphasized that while anyone can make a mistake, repeated use of such language should be viewed as a deliberate and condemnable act.

Chirag, the Member of Parliament (MP) from Jamui, urged the Governor to submit a report to the President and recommend imposing the President’s rule in Bihar.

Chirag expressed concern for CM Nitish’s health and suggested that party leaders and family members should arrange for his treatment. He also voiced apprehension about Bihar’s governance under the leadership of a person whose mental condition appeared to be unstable.

Furthermore, Chirag expressed doubts regarding the accuracy of caste and economic survey reports presented by the government in the Assembly. He raised concerns about implementing reservation policies over 35 years, indicating that a significant portion of reserved positions remained unfilled, which he considered a serious issue.

During the press conference, the party’s state president Raju Tiwari, national vice president Renu Kushwaha, national general secretary Dr Satyanand Sharma, state chief general secretary Sanjay Paswan, and other key figures were present.
