Class 12 Student Dies Allegedly by Suicide Over Study Pressure in Kishanganj
Kishanganj/ Patna: A 21-year-old student, identified as Majharul Islam, was found dead in his rented room in the Panibagh area of Kishanganj. Majharul, a resident of Gevdaloti in Pothia block, had been staying in the room for the past four days, having arrived in the town to prepare for his 12th-grade exams. The circumstances surrounding his death suggest suicide.
The tragic discovery came after Majharul’s father became concerned when his son did not answer repeated calls on Wednesday morning. After attempting to contact him 15 times without success, Majharul’s father reached out to a local neighbor, Manisul Haq, who was asked to check on him. Haq, upon arriving at the room, knocked on the door but received no response. Peering inside, he saw Majharul hanging from a noose.
Haq recounted the events, stating, “Majharul’s father called me in the morning when his son didn’t pick up. I went to his room, knocked, and when there was no answer, I looked inside and found him hanging.”
Upon receiving the news, local authorities swiftly responded. The Town Police arrived at the scene, where they broke down the door and brought the body down. The body was subsequently sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
The news of Majharul’s death has left his family devastated, with relatives gathered at the scene in mourning. Town Police station incharge Abhishek Kumar Ranjan confirmed that the landlord had alerted authorities about the situation. “When we arrived and broke down the door, we found the student’s body hanging. The initial indication is that it was a suicide, but we are conducting further investigations,” Ranjan said.
