CM Nitish Issues Instructions for Speedy Completion of Mithapur-Mahuli Elevated Road and Punpun Suspension Bridge in Patna

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday conducted a comprehensive inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in Patna, emphasizing the rapid completion of the Mithapur-Mahuli four-lane elevated road and assessing progress on the Punpun Suspension Bridge and other critical road linkages.
The Chief Minister’s tour began with a stop at the Mithapur flyover roundabout, where he received detailed briefings from officials regarding the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road. Officials informed him that this four-lane structure would extend over the Sipara bridge and connect at this point, featuring service roads on both sides near the Mithapur railway crossing.
“The remaining work of the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road should be completed expeditiously,” Chief Minister Kumar directed. He highlighted the project’s importance, stating it would significantly ease commuting, alleviate traffic congestion on the bypass, and provide considerable convenience for travelers entering and exiting Patna.
Punpun Ghat Transformation Praised

Following the road inspection, the Chief Minister visited the Punpun Suspension Bridge to review its construction progress. He also made a stop at Punpun Ghat, taking stock of the ongoing beautification efforts there. Engaging with local residents, the Chief Minister inquired about their well-being.
In a heartwarming exchange, people expressed their gratitude for the suspension bridge and the ghat’s beautification, thanking the Chief Minister for “transforming this area” and “leaving no stone unturned for its development.” Chief Minister Kumar reciprocated, remarking, “Now people will be able to reach Punpun Ghat easily, and they will be able to perform Pinddaan. All their facilities have been taken care of.” He shared a personal connection to the area, stating, “We have an old attachment with this area. We have always been coming here. We are constantly engaged in work for the convenience of the people.”
Enhancing Connectivity
The Chief Minister’s inspection continued to Mahuli, where he examined the service road under construction near the crossing point underpass of the Bihta-Sarmera Path and Patna-Gaya-Dobhi Path. Officials explained that this service road would effectively link the Bihta-Sarmera Path to the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi Path, further enhancing regional connectivity. He also took stock of the condition of the old Patna-Gaya path.
Accompanying the Chief Minister during the inspection were Legislative Councilor Ravindra Prasad Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Special Officer to the Chief Minister Gopal Singh, District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Managing Director of Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited Shirshat Kapil Ashok, Senior Superintendent of Police Avkash Kumar, and other senior officers.
