CM Nitish Kumar Teases Tejashwi Yadav in Assembly, Asks with a Smile: ‘Why Don’t You Shave?’

Patna : In an unusual and light-hearted moment during the Bihar Assembly proceedings on Wednesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar playfully teased Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, asking him — through gestures — why he hadn’t shaved. The brief exchange, which unfolded during the otherwise tense Question Hour, momentarily changed the mood in the House.
As discussions on various issues progressed, CM Nitish known for his distinctive style and spontaneous humour, touched his own cheek to signal to Tejashwi, questioning his unshaven look. Tejashwi Yadav, catching on quickly, responded with a smile, sharing a silent laugh with the Chief Minister. Minister Vijay Chaudhary, seated beside CM Nitish Kumar, couldn’t help but grin at the friendly exchange.
Tejashwi’s Displeasure Over Road Construction
Despite the light-hearted moment, tensions resurfaced when Tejashwi Yadav raised concerns over the lack of progress in road construction projects in Hajipur, a project initiated under the previous Mahagathbandhan government. Dissatisfied with the response from Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin, Tejashwi pressed for answers, pointing out that despite approvals, work had barely progressed. Nabin claimed that 10% of the work had been completed, a response that failed to satisfy the Leader of Opposition.
In an attempt to ease the situation, CM Nitish again gestured toward Tejashwi, assuring him with a silent promise that he would personally look into the matter. However, Yadav’s dissatisfaction was evident.
Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav’s Witty Remark
The atmosphere lightened once more when Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav joined in with a witty remark directed at Tejashwi. “It’s good that he lives in Patna. If he lived there, he would have fought,” he quipped, triggering laughter from both sides of the House. Tejashwi, taking the joke in stride, laughed along and stood up again to make his point, highlighting that without a proper road in Hajipur, the residents could not be expected to reach Patna easily.
Nitish Kumar’s Prank with Vijay Chaudhary’s Glasses
Earlier in the day, CM Nitish Kumar’s playful side was again on display when he pulled a prank on his close aide, Minister Vijay Chaudhary. In the middle of the Assembly session, CM quietly took Chaudhary’s glasses and hid them in the drawer beneath his desk. As Chaudhary searched for them, the two exchanged amused glances, drawing laughter from members on both sides of the House.
