Colours of Joy, Not Chaos : Patna Administration Gears Up for a Safe Holi

Patna : With Holi festivities approaching, the Patna administration has prioritised maintaining law and order, urging officials to exercise vigilance and take preventive action against potential disturbances.

District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Avkash Kumar have issued directives to strengthen the intelligence network, enhance patrolling in sensitive areas, and closely monitor social media to curb misinformation. Officials have been instructed to keep a strict watch on anti-social elements and take swift action against rumour-mongering.

Stringent Measures for Public Safety

The administration has mandated special campaigns against drug and alcohol abuse, with immediate destruction of seized liquor and targeted raids on illegal substances. Additionally, officials have been asked to ban obscene songs, ensure videography and CCTV surveillance, and conduct both motorcycle and night patrols to maintain public order.

The fire brigade, hospitals, and control rooms will remain operational round the clock, while municipal bodies have been directed to ensure cleanliness in public spaces.

Holi Celebrations with Safety in Mind

To prevent accidents, authorities have emphasised safety measures for Holika Dahan, ensuring bonfires are set up at safe distances from electric wires and do not disrupt traffic.

Sub-divisional officers and police personnel are actively overseeing preparations, with peace committee meetings being held at various levels to foster community cooperation.

Call for Peaceful Celebrations

In a message to the public, DM Dr Singh and SSP Kumar appealed for a peaceful and harmonious Holi. “This festival symbolises unity and brotherhood. We urge everyone to celebrate responsibly and uphold the spirit of peace,” they said.
