Commercial LPG Prices Drop by Rs 25, No Relief for Domestic Gas Cylinders

On 1 June, commercial LPG cylinder prices were cut by about Rs 25 across major cities, but home cooking gas rates stayed the same.

Patna: On the first day of June, there’s some good news for small businesses and restaurants. The price of commercial LPG cylinders has been reduced by around Rs 25 in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. However, there is no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders used in homes.

According to Indian Oil’s latest price list, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs Rs 1,723.50 in Delhi, which is Rs 24 less than before. In Kolkata, the price has gone down to Rs 1,826. Mumbai now offers the same cylinder for Rs 1,674.50, while in Chennai, the new price is Rs 1,881. These new rates are effective from 1 June 2025.

Meanwhile, domestic LPG cylinder prices have not changed since April. A 14.2 kg cylinder still costs Rs 853 in Delhi, Rs 879 in Kolkata, Rs 852.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 868.50 in Chennai. The government controls the price of domestic gas, and officials have kept it steady to help manage household budgets.

LPG prices depend on international crude oil rates and how much demand there is in the market. While commercial prices are revised every month based on these changes, domestic prices are adjusted less often. For now, businesses get a small break in costs, while families will have to keep paying the same for cooking gas.
