Crude Bomb Attack Rocks BN College Hostel in Patna, One Injured as Students Block Road in Protest

Patna: Tension gripped Patna University’s BN College campus on Monday afternoon after a crude bomb was allegedly detonated inside the hostel premises, leaving one student critically injured. The incident, which took place around 12.45pm during an ongoing examination, has sparked widespread panic among students and local residents.
According to police, the injured student, identified as Harsh, an economics undergraduate, suffered severe head injuries after reportedly being struck by the bomb. He was immediately rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where he is undergoing treatment.
Initial reports suggest the violence stemmed from a dispute between hostel residents and a group of local youths. Witnesses claimed that tensions escalated when hundreds of students stormed the hostel, leading to a series of crude bomb explosions and clashes within the campus. Police officers responding to the incident have since recovered CCTV footage and are examining blood-stained areas inside the hostel as part of the investigation.
The violence spilled beyond the campus walls, with protesting students blocking the main road outside BN College, causing disruption to commuters in the area. Security forces were deployed to disperse the crowd and restore order.
This latest incident comes amid heightened concerns over campus safety in Patna, following the recent fatal shooting of a student at the Saidpur hostel. The victim, Chandan Kumar, from Nawada district, was reportedly killed over a personal dispute, sparking outrage and renewed calls for stricter security measures in university hostels.
Authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the BN College bombing, and investigations are ongoing.
