Cyclonic Storm ‘Dana’ Weakens in Bihar, But Effects Persist Until October 31
Patna: Cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ may have weakened as it moved into Bihar, but its residual effects will continue to be felt in the state until October 31. During this period, easterly winds are expected to dominate the weather, preventing any significant drop in temperatures. Following Diwali, the minimum temperature is predicted to decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Center has indicated that dense cloud cover will blanket 20 districts across Bihar over the next 48 hours, with light rain expected. The maximum temperatures in all districts are projected to range between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures are anticipated to be between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius.
Despite the weakening of the storm, a low-pressure area remains over Odisha, contributing to the easterly winds in Bihar. This weather pattern is likely to cause a temporary increase in maximum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next few days. However, even with this rise, temperatures will still remain around normal for this time of year.
In terms of rainfall, Bihar has seen a significant deficit this season, with only 17 mm recorded in the post-monsoon period, representing a striking 72% decrease from the normal levels. Recent data from the Meteorological Center highlights that Munger experienced the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, while Buxar reported the lowest. The center has also released rainfall statistics for eight districts.
As Bihar experiences the lingering effects of Cyclonic Storm ‘Dana’, residents should prepare for fluctuating temperatures and light rains in the coming days.
