Darbhanga Airport Set to Welcome Two New Airlines, Improving Connectivity for Mithila and Seemanchal Regions

Darbhanga / Patna : Darbhanga Airport is poised to witness a significant boost in connectivity, with two new airlines — Air India Express and Star Air — expected to commence operations soon. The airlines have submitted applications for slot allocations to the Civil Aviation Ministry, and approvals are anticipated as part of the upcoming summer schedule.

This development is expected to greatly benefit air travellers from Mithila, Seemanchal, and Tirhut, offering more options and improved connectivity to various destinations. Sources indicate that once the slots are confirmed, both airlines are likely to initiate ticket bookings immediately.

In addition, Akasa Air is set to launch its service between Darbhanga and New Delhi from 4 April, with ticket bookings already underway. Discussions are also ongoing regarding the introduction of another flight between Darbhanga and Mumbai in the near future, further enhancing the region’s air travel options.

Local MP Gopal Ji Thakur expressed optimism about the addition of these services, stating that efforts are underway to transform Darbhanga Airport into a facility of international standards. He highlighted that the arrival of Air India Express and Star Air would significantly improve air connectivity for the region and meet the growing demand for travel options.
