Darbhanga: Train Passenger Targeted in Late-Night Robbery, Girl Among Trio Arrested by Police
DARBHANGA: In a late-night incident during the Durga Puja celebrations, miscreants attempted a knife-point robbery of a train passenger at the Kathalbari ROB in the University police station area. The daring act took place on Monday night, causing a commotion that led to the swift response of patrolling policemen.
The miscreants, attempting to make a hasty escape after looting two mobile phones, were intercepted by vigilant police officers. Two youths, Suraj Sah and Mohd. Asif Alam, along with a girl identified as Soni Kumari, were apprehended at the scene. The stolen mobile phones and the knife used in the crime were successfully recovered from the trio.
Soni Kumari, hailing from Vishambharpur village in Samastipur district, has been identified as one of the arrested individuals. Meanwhile, Suraj Sah and Mohd. Asif Alam, residents of Kathalbari locality in the University police station area, are known to be accused in several cases and are listed as notorious criminals.
The fourth suspect, identified as Imtiaz from Kathalbari, managed to escape the police dragnet and is currently at large. Police Station Head Madan Prasad stated that efforts are underway to apprehend Imtiaz, and the Samastipur Police has been contacted to gather information about the criminal history of Soni Kumari.
The incident took place when a person from Sitamarhi district, en route to Darbhanga station at 03:30 in the night, was accosted by four miscreants who robbed him at knifepoint, snatching away two mobile phones. A subsequent scuffle ensued, and the victim, after escaping, promptly informed the police about the incident.
Police authorities quickly responded, leading to the arrest of three of the culprits. The search for the fourth suspect, Imtiaz, is ongoing, with police conducting raids to bring him to justice.
The police station chief emphasized the commitment to ensuring the safety of the public and apprehending those responsible for criminal activities. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the entire sequence of events and understand how the arrested individuals, especially Soni Kumari, became involved in criminal activities in Darbhanga.
