December Heat in Bihar: Temperatures Near 30°C Across Many Districts
Patna: Despite 20 days of December having passed, the state has yet to experience severe cold. The Meteorological Centre has indicated that no extreme cold conditions are expected in the coming days, with minimum and maximum temperatures likely to remain within normal ranges.
The weather across Bihar, including the capital, is expected to stay dry, with light fog anticipated in Patna and other districts during the morning. An increase in night temperatures has eased the chill for now, but a drop in temperatures in two days could bring colder conditions. However, sunny days are likely to keep the overall weather manageable.
Among the major cities, Patna is forecasted to have a maximum temperature of 25°C and a minimum of 13°C. Bhagalpur is expected to record a maximum of 26°C and a minimum of 12°C, while Muzaffarpur will see temperatures ranging between 25°C and 11°C.
Rajgir in Nalanda district stood out as the hottest spot in Bihar on Thursday, with the maximum temperature reaching 30.3°C, according to data released by the Meteorological Department.
Ashish Kumar, director, Patna meteorological centre attributed the lack of severe cold to weak western disturbances, resulting in higher minimum and maximum temperatures. Climate change has also been cited as a contributing factor, with temperatures now consistently above normal levels in recent years, leading to a reduced impact of cold waves.
