Deputy Chief Minister and Governor Grace Electric Vehicle Expo in Patna
Patna: In a significant showcase of Bihar’s commitment to sustainable transportation, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar made high-profile visits to the Bihar Electric Vehicle Expo at Hotel Maurya here on its second and concluding day on Friday. The expo, featuring the latest models of electric vehicles (EVs), emerged as a major attraction, drawing attention not only from government officials but also from the general public.
Governor Arlekar, who graced the event on Friday evening, joined Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal in meticulously inspecting each stall. Starting with the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation’s electric buses, the Governor gained insights into the operation and benefits of these eco-friendly alternatives. Moving on to various motor vehicle companies, he gathered comprehensive information about electric vehicles and explored stalls dedicated to EV cycles, bikes, and scooters.
Praising the EV Expo, Governor Arlekar emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting sustainable transport solutions.
Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav explored the diverse stalls, gaining insights into the features of EVs and even took a ride on an electric bicycle.
Transport Secretary Sanjay Agarwal noted that due to the overwhelming positive response, the expo’s duration was extended to two days. “The enthusiastic turnout reflected a growing awareness among the public about electric vehicles, paving the way for more such expos in the future,” he said.
The Electric Vehicle Expo showcased a plethora of cutting-edge models, with Hyundai’s Kona and Ioniq-5 electric cars sparking particular interest. Other leadi
ng automotive companies such as MG, Maruti, Nexa, Toyota, Mahindra, and Tata presented their latest electric vehicle offerings, capturing the attention of visitors who eagerly sought information and clarification on features.
Beyond four-wheelers, two-wheeler electric vehicles and e-cycles took center stage, captivating the audience with their innovation. EESL’s e-cycle, priced between Rs 20,000 to 50,000, attracted attention with its versatile options of manual and automatic modes, offering a range of 30 to 80 kilometers on a single charge. Ola and Ather presented their e-bike offerings in the range of Rs 1.31 lakh to Rs 1.90 lakh, providing diverse options for eco-conscious consumers.
The expo received accolades from locals as well. Dr. BK Singh, a Patna resident, commended the well-organized and equipped event. He expressed pride in witnessing such an expo for the first time in Bihar, attributing it to the state’s progress and transformative changes in the transport sector.
