
Patna: A comprehensive review meeting chaired by the Director of the Fisheries Directorate under the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department was held on Wednesday, to assess the implementation of state and centrally sponsored schemes in the districts of Siwan, Munger and Jamui.
During the session, the Director conducted an in-depth review with the District Fisheries Officers of the three districts, issuing directives for the timely completion of all fisheries-related schemes by the end of April. Officers were instructed to expedite scrutiny of applications submitted on the MIS Portal, with Fisheries Extension Officers and Fisheries Development Officers tasked with forwarding eligible applications to District Fisheries Officers for further processing.
Updates on the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) were presented. Under this central scheme, new pond construction was reported across 4.82 hectares in Siwan, 6.39 hectares in Munger, and 39.77 hectares in Jamui. Rearing of ponds was carried out over 0.49 hectares in Siwan, 1.526 hectares in Munger, and 5.1 hectares in Jamui.
Progress under state schemes was also reviewed. Under the Special Assistance Scheme (2023–24 and 2024–25), pond-related work covered 28.50 acres in Siwan, 2.98 acres in Munger, and 5.56 acres in Jamui. Notably, under the Chief Minister Chaur Vikas Yojana – Saat Nischay-02, significant construction activity spanning 90.83 hectares was undertaken in Siwan.
The review also included a discussion of achievements recorded by the three districts over the financial years 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25. The meeting saw the participation of District Fisheries Officers, Project Coordinators and other officials from the respective districts.
