
Patna: A group of disabled citizens met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence today to thank him for increasing the social security pension amount. They welcomed him with flowers and expressed their happiness over the major decision that will help many people across the state.
Speaking to them, the Chief Minister said that his government is committed to the welfare of all sections of society. He assured the group that their needs will be met and that the development of Bihar will continue. The visitors praised the decision, calling it historic and a big support for the disabled community. They also raised slogans in support of the Chief Minister.
The pension amount was increased on 21 June 2025. Under the new rule, elderly people, disabled citizens, and widowed women will now receive Rs 1,100 every month, instead of the earlier Rs 400. This decision will benefit around 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand people across Bihar.
Many senior leaders and officials were present at the meeting, including Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Excise Minister Ratnesh Sada, JD (U) State President Umesh Kushwaha, and representatives from the Bihar Handicapped Rights Forum. The gathering marked a moment of joy and appreciation, as people celebrated a move that will improve the lives of many.
