Discussion on Environment and Health Held at Patna Zoo

Patna: A discussion on the subject of environment and health was organized jointly by Patna Zoo and Jayprabha Medanta Hospital on Tuesday. The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr. Prem Kumar, Minister, Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Bandana Preyashi, Departmental Secretary. Dr. Pramod Kumar, Head of Cardiology at Jayprabha Medanta Hospital, and Dr. Ajay Kumar Sinha, Director of Interventional Cardiology, explained ways to prevent heart disease. Additionally, the ISDRF team provided practical CPR training to zoo workers.
Dr. Rajiv Ranjan Sinha, Director of Orthopedics, gave information on maintaining healthy bones and joints. Dr. Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, Director of the Cancer Institute, discussed cancer symptoms, prevention, and treatment. K.M. Sahu, Director of Nephrology, shared insights on kidney diseases and their prevention. Dr. Ravikant addressed mental health awareness, while Kanchal Kumari emphasized the importance of healthy eating habits.
Saplings were distributed to dignitaries and attendees as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. The initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation and personal health.
Dr. Ravi Shankar Singh, Medical Director of Jayprabha Medanta Hospital, encouraged zoo workers to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Present at the discussion were Abhay Kumar, Director of Ecology and Environment, Patna; Satyajit Kumar, Director of Patna Zoo; Shashi Bhushan Prasad, Deputy Director; Amit Kumar, Field Officer of Forests; zoo biologists, and zoo ambassadors.
